Having a bowel movement everyday is a sign of a healthy colon, but many things such as medications, medical conditions and genetics may cause you to move slower or faster. Evaluate your medication profile if you have one and take a good look at your lifestyle. Leading a sedentary lifestyle with a poor diet will cause slow GI motility. You can safely take Colace which is OTC as long as you see your doctor and rule out any serious type of bowel blockage or disease. Otherwise start hitting the bran.

DON'T USE LAXATIVES.. stool softeners occasionally are needed, but an increased fiber content will help, I use Konsyl, from walmart.. sometime white bread can be switched for whole grain -- actually no one should eat any white bread.. Too much fat intake is often a problem, are stools tackey-- gooey and hard to wipe off?? Less fat and protein, an average person needs 3 oz per day.. Have you had sudden weight change: that could be a real problem that needs an internist evaluation! do you smoke or drink?,, quit! Crohn,s disease is an adult onset problem, mostly with women, that causes serious abd pain..

first, how old are you? it's true that the average population have BM every 24 hours bec that is the rate of transport from the mouth to the anus, but lots of factor affect GI motility. what kind of stomach pain are you having? if you're above 50 years old, i would suggest you have a colonoscopy done.

yeah the normal BM is everyday... but its not too abnormal if 3 times a week... maybe you just need to take some water... lack of water content will also contribute... but try to take laxatives... like DULCOLAX... for faster effect, take one orally then one,u stick on your rectum... then try FIBROSINE too... 1 sachet in a glass of water... you can try eating PAPAYA too... its a natural laxative... then if i were you,try to go for a check up coz it might not be any ordinalry BM abnormalities or stomachache... sometimes APENDICITIS has same symptoms...

Maybe try a weak laxative. It won't make you have diarrhea, but it will help regulate you.
Also try Colace. It is a stool softener that is sold over the counter. Take 100 mg a day.

daily BMs are not required! everybody's system is different. Try increasing water intake; taking stool softeners; exercise!
