I would like to start by saying to those who keep on saying that "Iraq" is a terrorist country and that they "dive into buildings" and things of that sort... I say.. Get your facts straight and then speak!!.. Iraq never threatened to blow up the united states in any time.. none of the 9/11 hijackers were of Iraqi nationality.. even the terrorists who are in Iraq at this time decapitating people are not IRAQIS.. They are Jordanian.. Yes "Al-Zarqawi" was Jordanian!! and they were never in Iraq during the time when Saddam was president of Iraq.. They All found their way in after Saddam was removed and The US took over.. That should raise some questions.. don't you think!!?? We are not bringing democracy to Iraq..we are only increasing the chaos there.. there is more chaos, insecurity, and terrorism in Iraq then before the US was there.. and these are facts not theories and judgments.
However, I think that the only reason we are still in Iraq is because they still have the oil, once the oil drys out we are out of there my friend!

If we left Iraq right now three things would probably happen. The Kurds would split in the north and be assumed by Turkey. The Sunnis in the central western portions would split and become a regime like Saddam's in which masses of people were imprisoned, tortured, raped, and killed. Finally the Shiites would spit in the south central, & western portion and either be assumed in Iran, or become similar radicalized state.
In any case we would probably have to come back because if this region wasn't a sanctuary for terrorism it will certainly become one in such a scenario. No, we must finish the job, and finish it right.
This is not to say I have love for how Bush is handling the War. Aside from whether we should have went or not I believe another president could have handled the logistics better. Whatever the case I only hope bush has learned enough to make the necessary changes to rectify the problems as I must admit it is a big mess over there.

Well, unfortunately there is more to it. I am sure after my thoughts someone will come and elaborate more. As stated by one person, the government would moe or less collapse and yes, then the lives lost on both sides (more so innnocent civilians) would have been for nothing. Also, The sheer amount of violence and chaos that would reign in that area would be unmanageable. It would become a haven for terrorists, which in turn would also spill over into neighboring countries. In addition, the U.S. would lose even more credibility then we already have by starting something of this nature and then just leaving it worse then before we got there. This would affect our poliitical objectives for so many decades, which would even impede peacful objectives. The list goes on and on but the bottom line is that at least to a certain degree, we must finish what we started. Although I hate the loss of life, I agree it would not be right to just leave it in shambles. No, I don't want us to spend 20 years doing it and perhaps there is a point where we say enough is enough but we are just not there yet.

I really don't think these bozos know why they feel they have to stay, even though 85 percent of Iraquis want us out and the situation gets MUCH worse by the day. Rumbrain and Dick-head had a plan, obviously ,to take over their oil and give it to their bigoilhead buddies, and maybe that's what they are still up to. They also want control of the entire Middle East so they now have Israel working for them on their death and destruction project. But you could be right, because now they have to worry about the elections and they probably still think they have a chance with the "stay the course" approach.

No. We haven't left Iraq because the War on Terror is ongoing. Iraq is just one battle and we have to be there. We have to be in Iraq because it's closer to the terrorists' base of operations than say...Cherry Point, North Carolina. As much as we dislike seeing good men die, these men joined a war time military. They knew the risks. They volunteered - nobody was drafted - and they died fighting for a cause they believed in. You dishonor them and the rest of the force by implying that they have failed.

I'm getting pretty fed up with question after question about the US policy in Iraq. WE ARE NOT THE BAD GUYS HERE - they're the ones who behead innocent civilians and crash planes into skyscrapers and strap bombs on and blow up innocent "infedels". If you have a better way to address this problem other than to confront the terrorists in their own base of operation - TELL US. There just isn't any justification for killing people who don't subscribe to your own beliefs - NONE. How about a better solution rather than questioning the war on terror as it's being fought?

i think its a matter of american pride. yeh we cant back dow because that would destroy our milatary image. right now the army still has a domineering grip over the country. the iraqis still see us as occuping their land. as long as that is happeneing, the US has some form of control in oil-rich iraq. im not really sure what the point of that is, but its happening, and i dont htink well back down during the bush administration. it will take a serious change in the white house for the troops to be brought home.

we always try to save face except when we don't
george bush has a new suit of clothes
Watch what happens
what happened in vietnam?
alternatively this is the start of wwIII
Yeah many of our servicemen volunteered because it was attractive for poor people before this all started. now there's trouble with recruitment. do you see any rich kids going in to military? any of bush's daughters - what percent of politicians families go over to the mideast - what percent of CEO's brats?
Them's real americans - good examples of patriotism
probably young people and retiring people should be called to their country's service for a time - and not just for the military but for the good of the infrastructure and environment as well
eventually the way the current thinking is going , i think we will end up in a nuclear all-out confrontation because of religious fundamentalists and simple minded politics. fundamentalists are the kamakazis of the 21st century.
have you ever had a fight with somebody that's enraged with nothing to loose? - definately not pretty if you are not perpared to go all the way
just think!!! there are more and more of them
why incite them with " bring it on " cowboy thinking
that's real dumb

while i became very very depressed, i in my view tried to do it as quickly as, i attempted the paracetamol technique. i became throwing up for 4 days without delay, could no longer consume or something, and it became terrible! i does not be shocked if I had some durable harm, yet no person realised why i became unwell so I on no account went to well-being middle. an mind-blowing form of the time however, it became in all probability right down to D. (And after the paracetamol adventure, A, and the phobia of it no longer working back.)

If we leave now then Iraq will fall to pieces and become another Iran. We are trying to help them become a democracy.
