Ok, you have Linux and a USB wireless modem?

There is a program designed specifically for this, NdisWrapper:

http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/

It lets you use windows drivers for wireless network cards. You will need the driver from the cd... if you've lost the CD get it form the manufacturers site.

Question is "Do you have an Internet Connection?"

Because you mention that your OS is Ubuntu Linux, which is a very good OS; and you say that you have a USB modem, which must be an external modem; but you don't mention an Internet Connection anywhere!?

If you have a connection, and you've migrated from MS Windows to Ubuntu Linux, question, again is "Have you got the dialer installed and configured it?" I think you've not done that.

Ask your ISP to give you a dialer and the configurations [gateway, sub-net mask, etc] to fill into it; then install it and use it to connect to the Internet.

Since you don't have an Internet Connection, you might need to use the Internet Connection disc or floppy that the ISP had given you when they installed it first.

If you don't have that, then you'll need to ask them for it.

All the best.

Cheers.

Driver problem, hint, reload windows on a partition, you will then have a option for both OS on start up, use windows to download all the lovely programs and drivers you need, then delete windows!
