An individual may begin operating a sole proprietorship at any age. Unless a 13-year old is expecting to make thousands of dollars, taxes would be negligible, as I am assuming your parents/guardians consider you an exemption/dependent on their yearly state and federal tax return.

Corporations are formed through state and federal government statutes. Legal documents are required to be "Incorporated".

Kate and Ashley Olsen had parents and/or financial advisors who were aware of the twins' potential. Corporations, trusts, etc. were initiated for them.

The Olsens Twins were TV stars before they started their company. They were very lucky because they had an agent who saw a good money-making opportunity with them.

How to start a company: First, you need to make it clear about who is your target market, what are your long-term and short-term objectives, and what are the resources that you need (human/producs).

You can certainly start a business but to get a license of register a Co. Ltd. or Corp. you will need someone of age 21 to sign the papers. From there you can operate the business as you wish.

If you are mowing lawns or selling lemonade, you have to just do it. There is a book I believe it is called from the lemonade stand by Bill Rancic (not sure if that is exactly right) that has a lot of great ideas.
