I recall from one of my psychology classes (a billion and a half years ago) that the origin was most likely in Greece. A few thousand years ago Greece was a hot bed of education. Psychology is the study of the "soul", the root word is Greek for soul. When you think about it, the study of the soul is very spiritual in nature. People think that psychology is the study of the brain, nope, not really. It is studying the problems associated with the human mind based on the mind/body connection (which includes heart and soul too).

I sure hope I remembered all of that correctly! : ) It's very interesting anyway.

Modern Psychology was founded by Wilhelm Wundt in 1879 in Leipzig, Germany.

It's roots go all the way back to ancient greece (sophists, mysticists and idealists).

Hence the expression "Psychology has a short history (1879 to now) and a long past (1000 BC to now).
