He drove drunk, got arrested, threw a tantrum, tried to flee from the police, cursed, threatened police, resisted arrest, and the worst thing of all--made racist remarks regarding people of Jewish decent.

This guy's career is done. Hollywood is generally pretty tolerant, but I think this one won't be forgotten especially considering many in the industry are Jewish; Think the Stillers, the Weinsteins, Larry David, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Mel Brooks, Michael Eisner, Adam Sandler, Jeff Goldblum, Spielberg, etc. Why should they ever want to work with him in the future?

Mel Gibson was arrested on the29th July 2006 for driving under the influence while speeding at ( 87 mph in a 45 mph zone ) on pacific coast highway, Malibu, California, his bail was set at $5,000 & he was released. The arresting officer was allegedly told by his superiors to retract a barrage of gibsons threats & anti semitic comments from his report. But on July 29th 2006, the report was leaked to a entertainment reporter at tmz.com. In it Gibson is discribed as repeatedly saying " my life is f***** ", and taking advantage of his position threatening to end the officers career, Gibson also allegedly asked the officer if he was jewish and stated " f****** jews, the jews are responsible for all the wars in the world ".The report also alleges Gibson refused to be taken to the police station & had to be restrained, Gibson continued his bizarre outburst when they got him to the police station where he was video taped asking a woman officer " what are you looking at sugar t*** " & possibly urinating on the floor. Papers in America confirm the document was authentic. Gibson issued a statement saying how ashamed he felt & that he was very sorry for his language and behaviour & that he had been battling with Alcoholism all his adult life. Hope this is what you wanted as a answer.

Well, first off, he got drunk and got pulled over. Second, he started pulling his mouth about Jews, again, about how those "bastard Jews" rule the world. Third, it is reported that the policemen tried to cover up Mel Gibson on the report because he has done some celeb promotion years ago about policemen. So, there you go. His actions equal Hollywood unhappiness.

From the other answers you now know what he did. The consequences of his actions will echo through the world and he will not be the same as before.

He came out and aplogised for saying the things he did BUT let's face it. The damage has been done.

He has been an icon a role model for many in life. Good looks, movie star, devoted father and husband and all of a sudden one bad decision has ruined his career.

I think it is time for Mel to retire from life for a while, move back to Australia and take stock of his life for his sake and that of his wife and seven children.

The cover up by Police is worrying to me and how many more celebs have been helped by this type of cover up where us mere mortals have been hammered in courts?

You people that are knocking Mel, well give him a break. He was not the first and will not be the last to get booked for DUI.
Lets get it quite clear, the man was drunk.....if you have seen a person that is intoxicated you will know they talk a lot of garbage.
But that is not the point, people should be entitled to freedom of speech.
I am Australian and I am damn proud of it. Most of the Aussie's
people love Mel.........Give him a break.
I mean are you perfect?

what a bad guy. funny when passion came out at every respectable theologian said that it was not faithful to the bible- he got on his high horse and said he had no axe to grind with the jews. didn't matter that his father publicly denied that the holocaust ever occurred- he wasn't using his stupid movie as a platform for anti-semitism. hard to believe him now. seems like he'll be compared to james frey for a while- b/c his 'art' was a lie with a really misguided agenda.
maybe the jewish powers that be in hollywood will try to blackball him- hope that they do. i'm not jewish and i won't see any of his movies ever again- nor would I work with him. for all i care he can sit in his house with his $500,000,000 with a white sheet over his head and spew hate- just leave me and the rest of the world out of it.
i am sick and tired in general of celebrities using their public persona to push their political/personal agendas. i'm also sick and tired of racism or bigotry- it's 2006 we are too sophisticated in this country to buy into this backward way of thinking. when u combine these it really makes my blood boil. shame on you mel gibson.
