If you have pair of bongo drums, you can buy 2 spiral cut hams, clean the meat, and play the drums.

set up a schedule and stick to it. Divide up the pages so that you'll be able to finish by the time of the exam. For example be like "I'm going to read 20 pages every day at 7:00 until the exam." That way you're not procrastinating and pulling an all nighter.

xanex, It helps. Truthfully the only way I know not to stress out about exams is to be confident I know all the material. Study Study Study. Ask the teacher if you are not clear on anything that is what they are there for. I am the type of person who freaks out if I do not score a 100% I have to be right. Very high strung. There are also vitamins to help you stress less i think most are made up of B vitamins. They help to some degree.

I also pray a lot for God to help me.

Meditate & Yoga have a peaceful sleep (No animal in the room comfy covers and clean smelling air) grip the back of your neck, releives stress and gives a good message. Hold your breath but breath through your nose before the exams, it is hard for the brain so it gets it going. Go for a run before the exam (like run from your dorm to your class)

Boring? Topic should only be boring if you understand it. If you understand it, then material is easy and test will be a cake walk. No stress.

My guess is that material is NOT boring, but that your study environment is full of distractions. Clear off your desk, turn off TV, close door and study uninterrupted for an hour. Then step away for a break. Repeat until you know the material.

Stress kills. Familiarity with material decreases stress.

Good luck.

Drink lots of coffee. It helps if you study in a library, somewhere where you will have no distractions and where it would be somewhat embarrassing to fall asleep. Getting a lot of sleep the night before is also important -- even more important than studying! You will retain more information if you don't cram or pull an all-nighter. Good luck!

One good idea is try not to study all in one stretch. Instead, study for a couple hours, go do something for awhile, and then come back, study some more, and so on.

Also, if the book is boring, either try reading the important stuff aloud, or if it's your book, and you don't care, mark up important things like definitions, etc.
If you know what particular things the teacher is going to focus on, then mainly highlight the specifics.

A friend is a good idea, as are good notes.

I drink and wing it.

Actually, I didn't read most of my books in college. I just skimmed and picked out information. Paid attention to lectures, took notes and I did very well 95% of the time. Heck, I could do that with papers, too. (No cheating on my part - I don't believe in dishonesty). I'm fortunate and I realize not everyone has the ability to learn and retain knowledge in that capacity.
