i think it is man made but i still would like to know what it is. i found it in my driveway and i live in northwest arkansas. it is army green with few lightbrown swerals. it is a allmost perfect triangle 2 3/4 in on all sides and 1/2 in thick with two bad spots on the side. it is magnetic but will not set off a meatle detector. can anyone help me identify it?

smooth, shinny, and harder than quarts. army green with brown swarels and is an allmost perfect triangle. it is magnetice and will not set off an older meatle detector and i know that it works. found in my driveway i live in northwest arkansas. my science teacher said he had never seen anything like it before. and he knows minerals better than anyone else i know.

A link to a photograph would be helpful.
Is it dull or shiny? Smooth or rough? Does it seem less dense than a similar sized stone?
Based on the shape and your local geology I'd venture a guess it's an oxide of some sort, but honestly I can't say without seeing a picture.

Well, there are only a few rocks and minerals that have the property of magnetism, and none of them seem to fit your description - at least, none that I saw.
I'm wagering it's man-made, but the other people are right - a picture would be immensely helpful.
Hope this helps!

do you live anywhere near a college/university?
a geologist there could probably ID it at a glance.
If you don't live near a college, you could mail a geologist a few good pictures.
The general size sounds a bit like an arrowhead, but that still doesn't tell you what kind of stone.

Take it over to the geology department at the University in Fayetteville and ask them to help you.
