Why would you do that? I still have my 78's, 45's, LP's, reel to reels, 8 tracks & cassettes! Are you insane? If you MUST get rid of them, don't throw them in the trash. Please donate them to someone or someplace. SHARE THE LOVE OF THE MUSIC!!!

I would say Yes the world is constantly become more highly advanced in technology. DvDs and CDs will soon replace cassettes. Just like Cassettes replaced Record players

I've got 30 year old ones that still sound good, who knows if CD's will after that long and it may turn out that digital is only artificial after all, all my original Doors cassettes sound much better than the CD's.

One day they will be as rare as vinyl records or 8-track tapes. Save them. Picture this-- you are 99 years old and on your death bed and someone asks you what your regrets are. You'll say that you didn't spend enough time with your family and like an idiot you THREW AWAY CASSETTES THAT BECAME WORTH A HUNDRED DOLLARS EACH!!!! Won't you feel silly then.

I wouldn't. I did it, and regret it. I thought the music I had on it was stupid and I'll be able to get it again if I ever wanted to, but not all music came out on CDs, and now I miss the music I trashed.

They will eventually deteriorate anyway. Just make sure you have everything copied to CD before you get rid of them.
Hey!
Have a "yard sale" or take them to your local flea market and trade them.
You might get a couple of dollars out of the deal that way!

I would keep them just for the music they may store.
They will probably be worthless and degraded in sound quality unless stored properly. I have some from the late seventies that sound wonderful, others are muffled. Depends on the stock that was used.

No. That would just be wasteful and hurt the environment. Plus, you could always just package them all up and mail them to me, and I will recycle them properly by finding which ones I like from the bunch and keeping them, then selling the rest on a website like Ebay or Half.com

If you have them on CD, then you really don't have a need to have tapes taking up space in your home!
