Multiply by 1.06.

(.06 is 6 hundredth, or cent)

So, 76.94 * 1.06 = 81.5564

So the tax part is what is above and beyond the original 76.94
(or in this case, exactly 0.06 * 76.94) which is 4.6164.

Now are they going to let it go for 4.61 or 4.62? My guess is it will be rounded up to 4.62, and you'll pay an extra 0.36 cent.

Actually, you would multiply it by .06 to get the 6%,

The 1.06 is a neat way of putting the first product, and the 6% together...

I wish you well..

Or, with a calculator you can just do $76.94X6% = $4.61. Take that and add it to your original total of $76.94 and you get $81.55.

Hope this helps.
