They are used for absolutely nothing at all. The only purpose they have is to control how many answers and questions you can post per day....but once you get to i think level 5 then its all unlimited......Besides that points are only used for bragging rights. And god i wish we could use them for buying things like gas!

Absolutely nothing other than climbing the levels, as far as I can tell ... but hey, that's good enough for me!

Level 1 from 1 - 249 points
You need 250 - 999 points to get to level 2
You need 1,000 - 2,499 points to get to level 3
You need 2,500 - 4,999 points to get to level 4
You need 5,000 - 9,999 points to get to level 5
You need 10,000 - 24,999 points to get to level 6
You need 25000+ points to get to level 7
