it's a SONG, for crying out loud! why would we want to make something out of what is not?? i grew up on zep and never got a satanic message out of it. it was just good rock and roll. many 70's bands have been addressed for the same things, and i just don't see it. maybe in denial?? maybe i am, i just choose to listen to musical quality as opposed to lyrical issues. and yes, i have a piano in my living room.

That song is definitely SATANIC. When I was 12 my mom got all religious and started making my brother and I go to church all the time. Well needless to say, one Sunday, the pastor decided to play satanic music backwards for us. There is some type machine used. When Stairway to heaven was played backwards, U could barely, but pretty much understand some demonic like voice saying something about sacrifice the lamb, never look up only reach out and give your soul to your maker below. Also they played Black Sabbath and AC/DC. I AM A DIE HARD ROCK N ROLL FAN even after hearing that. But I love Jesus Christ and I dont try to get into thinking about negative satanic crap playing. I always think of the STAIRWAY that will lead to the only HEAVEN.

It is based more on English mythology than satanism....many of the references in the song are to British myths or stories.
And as to Zeppelin being friends of Aleister Crowley that is impossible since he died in 1947. Jimmy Page was about three years old at the time. While it is true that Page did purchase Crowley's estate in England in the 70's, it was more about an interest in the Occult than in satan worship.

It's neither...no one in Led Zeppelin was actually a satanist, they were all just rumors that went around and have been cleared (a little bit). But just because it's about heaven doesnt mean its heavenly. It's just a good song.

I don't think Led Zeppelin is in anyway satanic. People like to make up BS about famous people because they have nothing better to do with there time.

Neither. It's mystical! Just listen, that's all the answer you need.
There are persons who will always try to make something negative out of the new or different. Especially if that something is part of a different generation.
