Absolutely. Bush's budgets have put insufficient resources towards alternative energy. This is an historic opportunity to use the high price of oil to underwrite the cost of developing alternative energy sources.
Oh yeah, and exacerbating the Israel situation and invading Iraq don't help the prices either...

The President is a public servant, not an all-powerful ruler who creates and enforces the implementation of policy. So, NO, the blame doesn't go to him--no matter what one may think of him.
The high costs the result of supply & demand issues. First, demand for petroluem is sky-rocketing as mainland China begins to enter the modern, automobile age. All of these years, they've been quietly building highways and roads, and NOW they're putting 1000s of new cars on these roads every month. Second, in this country (the U.S.) we've actually closed down oil refineries over the last 3 decades, when we should have been building new ones. So, our supply is down. I read somewhere that we're something like 24 to 30-something refineries SHORT of what we actually need.
There's your high gas prices.

Good Question - some of the other responders did nail it down . It is a supply issue right now and will continue to be because of the emerging markets industrializing IE: China India and eastern Europe as awell as south east asia They are all drinking oil. We have our pants down supply wise and the refineries are too few in number. We have environmentalist to thank for that. There are huge deposits in colorado , coast of Florida and Canada. The price we pay and are paying will be expensive - with or without Bush.

Why not, he gets blames for everything else......As a matter of fact, let's blame him for the following:

Why morning traffic was heavier than usual this morning
Why the line was so long at the bank this afternoon
Why I had a bad hair day

Not really, although I'm sure everything in the middle east
does not help. The real reason is simply supply and demand. China and India are growing at an incredible rate using more and us is growing and they have to pump more to meet the need.

no i dont.
there are a gadzillion things that contribute to the price of gas. including the fact that i use a lot of gas and am willing to pay just about anything for it.
Bush is the President and he is doing the best job he can. I am proud of him and it makes me sad how hateful people get.
a quote i like "some problems are so complex that you have to be highly educated and informed just to be undecided about them"
and oil prices is one of those things.

Yes.
He should have pushed for more exploration and refinery capacity. Also more 'nukuler power' and a wind farm off the coast of Hyannisport.
