is it easy to change and if it breaks will it mess anything up like the rods or valves like on the chrystler mini van

Wait...Chevy told me the 03 has a chain not a timing belt.....

I just called Chevy they verified its a clain so it doesnt need to be replaced

Check your owners manual. This is the only sure way to know without knowing what engine the vehicle has in it. A good place to look would be in the schedule maintenance section, as it will list ever thing you need to know. You may still have to look on the tag that is attached to the front near the radiator, or on the inside of the hood. If the vehicle has more than 60,000 miles showing on the odometer, you might want to schedule a change right away if it is a belt driven system. I'm sorry someone is misleading you, but if it has a chain they too have to be replaced at times. CHECK THE OWNERS MANUAL. Have fun!
