Read your listing agreement. It will spell this out quite clearly.

Typically, if the sale is to anyone that the realtor brought to you and the sale is closed within six months of the expiration of the agreement, the realtor will get their full commission. (Showings through MLS will count for this.)

If you locate your own buyer independant of the listing then you are free to sell without commission as soon as the listing expires.

Boston is correct.

Hopefully, you learned something while the home was listed. Should you acquire a buyer, I would suggest using the same contract your Realtor would have used.
This will provide you with the most protection.
