No she's not overweight. She's reaching puberty so now she's growing into her girlish figure. Women are supposed to have curves. I think she's just entering an awkward phase in her life because she's not used to her body maturing but she'll feel comfortable in no time. Just explain to her that it's normal for women to gain more fat in those areas because it helps during child birth. Also 110 pounds for a 12 year old doesn't sound bad at all. In fact I think it's normal. If she continues to feel upset, encourage her to excersise more because it will help her feel more satisfied with her body. Just pay attention to her eating habits and make sure doesn't go down the eating disorder route.

She's 12 right? It doesn't sound like shes fat to me. She may be a little on the chunky side for her height but she may still have a growth spurt left that could even things out. The main thing is if she's healthy. Does she eat right and is she active? There isn't much she can do about her breast size that's genetic. If you are really worried, talk to her let her know that she is loved no matter what. Discuss a eating and exercise plan with her and because of her age I suggest getting her doctor in on it with you. Good luck to you both!!

All people are built differently. At 12 years old she is going to have issues with her body but from your description she sounds more like she's going through puberty. You could probably see a doctor and they would tell you the same thing. Another thing is that if your daughter is active she may have more muscle and I'm sure you know that it weighs more. Also bone structure can have a large impact on body weight. Tell her not to worry.

females ideal weight is 100 pounds for the first 5 feet and 5 pounds for each additional inch. at 4' 11" , her ideal weight would be 95 pounds, but weight is +/- 10 pounds. so 85 to 105 pounds. The formula was designed for adults. With that shoe size, I think she's going to have another growth spurt, so I wouldn't worry about a few pounds right now. Let her go through puberty before you worry about her.

Definetly not fat. She is growing and getting curves which is all normal. Her body is changing and growing. Keep reassuring her that she's gorgeous. And if she still feels self concious perhaps she can join a gym (not to lose weight but to be healthy) and this will help her with her self esteem issues.
PS I looked like that at that age and I am now happily married to a man sho drools at my round butt and strong thighs

Her healthy weight range is 99 - 114 pounds. But come on Mom, she's only 12 years old and is still growing. You should be boosting her self-image by teaching her that looks aren't what matters most in this world. Instill in your daughter the need to do well in school and get a great education. And remind her that it's who she is that matters, not what she looks like.

Firstly, she is NOT overweight.
More importantly, why is this issue so traumatic to your family that it needs to be placed into a public forum.
Even more important, as a Mom you need to address the issue of self esteem and self awareness in your daughter. Without knowing her, she is not perfect. No one is. And she has faults. And other issues. That's' fine. We all do. But that doesn't make us un-perfect. It makes each and everyone unique and special. So even if she would be overweight (which she is NOT) , it should and does not matter.
Your daughter is no doubt special. Mom, it's your most important obligation, your most important job in the whole world, to make your daughter feel this way.
Give her the confidence to be herself, and there will be no stopping her in life.
Good luck to both of you.

You're daughter is by no means fat. She probably looks just fine. Big butt and thighs are nothing to be really worried about. As she gets older she'll grow and she'll thin out around there.

A 12 year old (female) child who is 110.0 pounds and 4 feet and 11 inches tall, has a body mass index of 22.3, which is at the 87.4th percentile and is considered to mean that your child is at risk of becoming overweight.

take media that seems to be a bigger influence in her life out of main source of info. she need only worry if an actual weight problem affect her health. Mom take the stress off. your discription of her says less about her and volumes about you. If you're stressing, get her into an activity program with others where trendy shape is overrated. encourage her to be the best she can be and love her. it may not be the total cure . . .but it helps.
