Depending on divorce settlements, but if he made a good amount back on the housing market, then go rent a Ferrari for about $1000/day and pretend to be a rich dude and get some young hot chicks.
Hopefully when he's driving one home, his wife will be walking down the street and he can run her over while he's at it.

Get him out, keep him busy. Just try to keep having fun and be understanding if he needs to talk. Sure, guys aren't good at that kinda thing, but you can try. If he doesn't want to go out, take the party to him, or at least a movie or something. Not a whole lot you can do but try to help him let it all out and then let it go. He should pick one day to feel completely sorry for himself, then he has to let it go and move on. That's where you come in to help him out.

oh you poor thing! do you need a hug? I'm assuming the person you know is you?? if not does he need a hug? I feel so bad for you/him. I'd say if you have no other attachments maybe think about relocating and getting a fresh start. Meet new people, new town, new job, you can completely re invent yourself. Good luck

try to coax him out or to get a hobby, or just to go looking for another job but something better than he had. or different, he has got to realize this is the start of a new chapter in his life, no matter who caused the split he will now have to look after no1 but that should be ok cause men usually look after no1, we all have rain sometimes but we have to look forward to the sun,

Tell your friend to think it through before he does anything that he will be sorry for later.
A new job will come. Try to keep the house if possible. Another lady friend will come along.
It's very hard for him now.
Be his friend. Tell him to "Never Give Up".

Keep trying to get him to come hang out with you. Even on days when he doesn't feel like coming out Just sit with him and watch tv. Every little bit helps.

Just know the worse is over and the best is yet to come. You don't have to do a thing.
