Never been ripped off yet and I have purchased over 20 items. Considering starting to sell on eBay as it is an easy way to sell.

I have been ripped off three times in the last two years. First was a $50 laptop for parts that the seller never sent, the second was a laptop hard drive that was guaranteed new and came used and non working, the third was a laptop screen that was not advertised correctly. Word of caution, try to avoid leaving negative feedback on the seller, even though you want to rip them apart. Leaving negative feed back will only make them want to retaliate, thus they leave you negative feedback. Try perusing your issue through ebay's customer service (file an item not received claim or something of the sort)

Hey.

I've been ripped off once on eBay. I ordered two sexual lubricants (lol) from this seller who had about a 97.4% approval rating when I bought them. I sent him emails for the 6 days following my purchase, none of which he responded to. Over the course of these 6 days, I saw that his negative feedback was starting to build..people complaining about not recieving items and saying the guy was a crook. I left him negative feedback on the 6th day, which I now realize was too soon. He left me negative feedback the next day, claiming that he was attending to a 'family emergency.' I wrote him two emails apologizing, and I asked him to please send the lubricants and we could both take back our negative feedback. He didn't respond.

I got an email from another buyer who had never recieved items he bought from this guy, and he had opened a Item Not Recieved dispute, gotten in contact with the guy who deals to this seller, and I think he probably got his items. I'm lazy. The guy was a crook.

Good luck, and I hope you recieve those items. I know what it's like to need something you ordered from eBay in a hurry and not being sure whether they'll come in time.

Maybe once, but I am not sure. I don't see why the woman would rip me off with a .50 cent book but it never came and she said that she would return my money. I don't consider that a rip off but others might. Just make sure that the seller has at least 95% positive ratings and you should be fine and also read the negatives to see why people rated with a negative. Were the people being overly critical? Or was the negative for a good reason. That should make it pretty safe if you do that.

I had the same anxieties when I started on Ebay, but over the last year or so, I've ordered maybe 26 or 28 items and, so far, so good. I do think it's a good idea to read their feedback, but I think in the mission statement or history of Ebay, someone said it's premised on the idea that most folks are honest. Good luck.

I have bought over 150 items over the years and would say 6 times...

The wrost thing is that Ebay service is not much of a help.

Luckily we've only been ripped off once, for a $75 item. It was actually my husband's purchase and not my own. I don't think he's bought anything on e-bay since.

Just one time, when I was new to eBay. Other than that I've been selling and buying there for more than 3 years with no problems. Just don't try to buy 'designer' clothes or purses online. Most are totally fake.

I've only been semi-ripped off. The seller was mad that I sent him a money order (when I told him in advance) and I didn't get my order when it was promised. That's the worst thats happened to me; I try to be really careful.
