We are heading that way next Saturday, and we are doing the park thing for a couple of days, but would like something different.

RESTAURANTS:
A great place to dine and play with the boys would be McDonald's off Sand Lake RD and International Drive (IDrive). It is home to the world's biggest play place, that offers a variety of food beyond the typical Burger and fries. I'm 19 years old and even I have fun at this McDonald's. It is a fun, cheap, must see, and according to Travel Channel Ranked #2 in their Most Unique McDonald's. http://www.mcfun.com/rest7_3896.shtml
I had so much fun here great show, good food, wonderful staff. What more could you ask for, right?!? Pirates Dinner Adventure, easily accessible off IDrive, and especially after Pirates of the Caribbean, this might be a great place to take the boys. http://www.piratesdinneradventure.com/home.html
If your boys are as into cars as all the others that I know then they'll absolutely love Race Rock. From the moment you see it down the street (or even off I-4), to the moment you leave you are in car/truck/boat... heaven. Both my little brother and cousin love this place so much that we had to nearly drag them out. They have anything and everything to keep the little ones entertained for awhile. http://www.racerock.com/racerock/index.html

ATTRACTIONS:
This place might resemble the theme park, it is completely different, and fun. Hence the name Fun Spot, with go-karts, an arcade, smaller rides for the younger ones... http://www.fun-spot.com/
Intellectual yet fun and interesting all at the same time. Where else but at Kennedy Space Center, although it isn't in Orlando, this is a must see when visiting FL. It's not only great fun for the little ones but for you as well. http://www.nasa.gov/centers/kennedy/home/index.html
The building alone will catch their little eyes, unless they see upside down buildings all the time. WonderWorks wonderful for the whole family, with tons of fun, interactive, mind boggling experiences. http://www.wonderworksonline.com/html/default.htm

There is so much more to do here in Orlando, but these were the few that jumped at me first, also that I knew at least one little boy who couldn't get enough of these places (my brother age 7). You are also surrounded by some gorgeous beaches, if you want a day of relaxation.
Good luck, and enjoy your trip down here to the beautiful Sunshine State.

Ripley's Believe It or Not
Downtown Disney (not a theme park, but has a lot of cool stores, shows, and activities for the whole family and most of it is free!)
Wet N Wild, Don't know if you consider that a theme park
Restaurants around the city
Go to the mall on Orange Blossom, very big
Lots of tiny stores, sometimes taking a walk is fun enough
There is a wind tunnel where you can float on air with a special jumpsuit, I can't remember the name
Skycoaster
Helicopter Rides

Orlando is great!

There are a lot of alligator farms/shows in the area. I really enjoyed seeing them while I was there. Also, you can take him to Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral which is only about 35-40 minutes away from Orlando.

Have a great time!!! I wish I was going!

I would go to all of the attractions listed plus Plant City. This town is outside Lakeland and it is a hidden jem. It is home to the Strawberry capital of the world. IT is right off of I-4 and it is about an hour from orlando.

orlando has a great kids science museum. (frogot the name but just ask anyone you in orlando) ITs really big hands on and pretty affordable. Also Orlando has a great water park that i wouldn't really consider a theme park. (wet and wild) and lastly orlando has some great shopping (mall at milenia, chelsea premium outlets and florida mall)

take them to Tampa to a Devils Ray baseball game....or to Kennedy Space Center on the Coast to view where they launch the shuttle. Or to Cocoa Beach...in other words, get out of Orlando altogether.

Although I think you MUST go to Disney World :) Gatorland is really cool. You can feed alligators, and sit on an alligator. There is also other kinds of wildlife, but just as others said Kennedy Space Center is nice as well.
