First of all, if you throw it away, it's no longer yours. So anyone can pick through it. Including your landlord. But it's pretty creepy that he would want to. You should be able to take him to court for false eviction and get it taken off of your record. However, I would not want to return to his property. Obviously he was doing something suspect, even though it's perfectly legal to dig in your trash. Many thoughts run through my head, none of them good. Ever feel like someone was watching you? Following you? Unnecessary visits to your apartment?
Get a lawyer, just to get the eviction off your credit. But don't go back. Your landlord is a creepy character.

If the trash has been put out on the street on collection day for pickup he can pick through it..

The rest of your question is a little tough to understand, but I can't imagine it would be a lease violation to put out a certain number of bags of garbage within reason.

I can pick through your trash. Once you put it out there, there is no longer an expectation of privacy. He may be a douchebag, but he can inspect your trash.

As for evicting you, he would need a good reason if you have a lease. Your taking his picture isn't sufficient.

Yep it's harrassment. Get an attorney. You cannot be evicted for any of those reasons. Depending on where you live though, moust cities agree that once the trash hits the curb it's public domain.

Once you put your garbage on the curb, you lose your expectation of privacy. It is legal for anyone to go through your garbage for any reason once it's out there. It could be that your landlord's garbage service limits the number of bags. Good Luck!

After you put the garbage in the dumpster or whatever it is outside your home it is no longer your property and therefore it is ok for him to dig through it. Cops have used this ploy to nail people for various crimes if they have suspicion but not enough hard evidence.

Yes, it's legal for anyone to pick through your trash after you remove it from your house. It's trash, remember? You threw it away. If you don't want anyone to see it, then keep it.

I would feel sorry for anyone who's going through the trash whether he's a bum or a sick landlord.

I think that's invasion of your privacy. As long as you maintain the dwelling and pay your rent on time and don't sell or use drugs on the premises then he's wrong
