Harry, Hermione, and Ron.
They are called this because they reflect the literary trio of mind, body and spirit. You will find this trio in a lot of books.
Ron: Body - Always does things that respond to his desires, loves candy from the cart, loves the Quidditch world cup, etc.
Hermione: Mind - This is pretty obvious!
Harry: Spirit - doesn't always figure things out for himself, but despite his fears, he throws himself whole-heartedly into the challenges he faces.
This trio exists in a lot of popular media:
Star Wars:
Han Solo, Leia, Luke
Star Trek:
Bones, Spock, Kirk
Lord of the Rings:
Merry/Pippin, Sam, Frodo

the Harry Potter Books are Sorcerer's Stone,Chamber of Secrets,Prisoner of Azkaban,Goblet of Fire, Order of the Phoenix,
Half Blood Prince but no The Golden trio. In all of the Books there are all the major characters Harry and his 2 friends,the big hairy guy,his aunt and her husband and their fat kid, then the kids at school esp the blond snotty kid and then starting with book 2 his snotty rich father, the 2 twins and others and then of course some of the teachers, the elderly British talking teacher who also turns into a cat, the stilted talking one in charge of the snake name group and of course the Director-the Head Wizard (played by a different character in movie two and for the actor Richard Harris so wonderful in movie 1 passed away.) Am waiting on Novel 7-supposed to be her last but am hoping as probably every other Harry Potter fan is just hype. Love the movies too for each on e has all the wonderful stuff than the previous ones but always something amazing and new in the current one. Happy reading.

"The Golden Trio" refers to Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. They've been a trio since midway through the first book and have been ever since *with the occassional breakdown here and there, due to adolescent fights*.

I've never heard the golden trio phrase before, but my guess would be Harry, Ron and Hermione.
