One of the leading causes of stupidity is willful ignorance. People latch onto a belief--some political or religious dogma, oftentimes--and then they refuse to give up that belief no matter what contrary facts & evidence turn up. Occasionally reality will *****-slap a person for their stupidity, but usually they get away with it. That's why stupidity is able to propagate.

People believe stupid things because they WANT to. Reality is too harsh for a lot of people to deal with, so they retreat into their own fantasies of how they think the world should be or how they wish the world was, then proceed from there to try and justify their belief.

It is not enough for people to learn facts & figures. That does not make you intelligent. People also need to learn HOW to think, not just WHAT to think. You need to know what it means to think rationally & critically, how to avoid logical fallacies, and when it's time to change what you currently believe. In other words, how to think for yourself and be sure that your thought processes are sound.

Being intelligent is all about having mental & intellectual integrity.

People aren't stupid. People just make stupid mistakes. There is a difference.

What we as the individual interprets to be 'stupid' is a reflection of our own morale and value system. As a society we have agreed upon a set of social codes and standards allowing us to interact more gracefully. These codes and standards may vary from region to region and are all part of the individual learned, environmental and hereditary traits. When we witness something we perceive as 'stupid', it is just something that doesn't register in our value system.

That is, of course, they are not just being ******* on purpose or for the reason of pure ignorance...that's a whole other story in itself.

Because we are imperfect.
I know I am smart, but I can also be stupid at times.
What's really stupid is if we think we are "better" than someone else for any reason - intelligence, wealth, looks, color, etc.

quoting Forrest Gump
Stupid is as stupid does

Not everybody is stupid.
why do you think people are so stupid anyway
Maybe because they open their mouths and ask stupid questions or something you think is stupid. Perspective?

people just don't use your mind, for example, you don't leave your computer on forever, or else it gets hot and can burn up it's own cpu, people just don't use their brains as much as they could, and it seems like they get used to having it turned off and that's the only side of them you usually see..........

because they haven't had anyone care enough about them to show them a better way to be , and that sometimes even includes their own selves...love everyone equally , as you love your self , unconditionally , and absolutely.
