It can, especially if it's a thunderstorm, since the electricity in the air apparently interferes with cell phone towers or something. I always lose signal during storms at least once.

Yes. Especially in a electric/thunderstorm. The electric discharge will create a strong induced radio signal that'll simply swamp out for an instant the signal a cell phone puts out. Other storms can effect em too. If a snow or rainspout is between you and the cell tower, it'll degrade the signal.

Yes and No.

yes, it affects the signals in that it can knock out power to surrounding cell sites and possibly affect the Local Telephone company lines (yes we still use a HS land line connection). It can also affect the signal if you live in a rural area.

No it doesn't directly affect how your signals work due to carriers having sites every 3 to 5 miles in Urban areas (coverage is approx. 10 miles) and 7 to 9 miles in rural.

If used throughout the time of an apporach to land, cellular telephone indicators have been regular to pull ILS glideslope / localiser bars far off from the runway centreline. If visibility is unfavourable, the safety implications are obvious - somewhat if the Autopilot is coupled into the ILS. the flair is there for the aeroplane to fly itself into the floor without absolutely everyone onboard realising. cellular telephone indicators can impact airplane on floor aswell, that's been regular for indicators to set off launch of wing shops or maybe spark off ejector seats. So in case you ever see absolutely everyone employing a cellular telephone besides close to an aeroplane - slap them. some airways are pondering permitting using cellular telephones onboard, despite if only with regular frequency bands that have been completely examined to be sure Electromagnatic Compatability with airplane platforms.
