if you're on a windows computer, try this:
1) click "start" button at lower left
2) choose "run..."
3) type cmd and then click "ok"
4) in the black window that opens (DOS console) type "ipconfig" (without the quotes) and hit enter
you should see your computer's IP information
5) type "exit" and hit enter to close the DOS prompt

Often times you have two different IP addresses, the one of your computer behind your firewall/router, and the one that the rest of the world sees.
To get the one behind your firewall/router, just do what others have said, and run ipconfig if you're running windows, or System Preferences -> Network -> double click on the network connection you're using.
To find the IP address that the rest of the world sees, go to a site like http://www.whatsmyip.org/ and it'll tell you your IP address.

Also going to http://www.whatismyip.com you will get it. It's a bit faster than going to DOS prompt.
