They were history and civics. As I was dead set on going into computers, I found them boring and esoteric at the time and didn't pay attention to anything related to recalls, impeachments, filibusters, etc. because, honestly, politics was the last thing on my mind when I was a teen.
Well. Little did I know that my state (California) has gone through a recall on our governor. We were almost witness to an impeachment. And we may yet see another one. There were a lot of talk about filibusters recently. And the whole check-and-balance and separation of church and state were also in the news. Man! Who knew?!
Not so esoteric after all!
