Being friends depends on your relationship. You see if you started your relationship as friends, and tried to have a romantic pursuit, and there was no chemistry, then sure going back to friends is no big deal. But if you had a steamy romance, then just decided the magic is gone, then reverting to friends is difficult. As much as it hurts you are better to part ways, and give yourself a clean start. Staying/Trying to be friends just lingers the pain and agony.

At this point of time when the hurt is fresh, we normally think of all kinds of ways to get close.
Cause we still care..
Its not easy to stop caring somebody in such a short time. It always occures in a Breakup.
I suggest waiting for a period of time, then think about whether to stay friends.
Is it really worth it to be friends? If so, where are your boundaries of athis friendship?

There is now way you can be friends until you get over the feelings of love you have. I'm not even sure you can really be friends then because you will always remember.

If he dumped you.......what would you try to be friends??.....you need to give yourself some respect as a person, pride....there are million of single guys out there ...move on and forget about it,....all you will get with "friends" with an ex it's hurt yourself....men are not like us..they move on and don't care about your feelings....at least most men are like that......good luck

1) post this in a better column than marriage and divorce 2) I've never been in that position , When I was single I normally would wait until my hurting and all the feelings I had for them went away before I even could properly asses if I wanted to be friends again .

it's not wise to try to be friends with someone that you are still in love with, Can you take it when he tells you about his new girlfriends, because that is what friends do they talk about their relationships ...ect
