I went back after not being for 10 years. What motivated me was the fact that I knew I would never make nearly the amount of money I thought I deserved (and it didn't help that men were making more for the same job as women) without a degree, and, I got sick of only being able to read a certain level of literature. We are blessed in North America to be able to go to college. We shouldn't take it for granted. Good luck. Take a break and have a mini-holiday so that you can feel refreshed.

School does seem to get me down sometimes when I think of all the time I still have left to get my doctorate and all, but I chose a degree that will allow me to get other jobs in related fields after I get my bachelors degree, so that I can make some money and go to college part-time to do my masters and doctorate. Anyway, what keeps me going is the fact that I can make much more money once I am finished and if I never even finish up a bachelors degree... well, I don't want to be 30 and asking, "Would you like to super size that?" for a living, which won't even be enough to make a living!

So you're obviously not done with some requirements and it's bugging you (a guess). Mix up your course load. My sister had to do this - she dreads math and english and for year took nothing but those classes because she had to. She HATED it. Hate. jWHy do that to yourself? Take your english class and your history class at the same time. Mix it up so that you don't get bored.
Also I have a ritual that helps classes be a good relaxing thing for me (I'm getting my PhD right now, but have techincally been in college in some form since 1995). Like, I get a cup of coffee, show up a bit early and read or buy a magazine or shop at the book store for a little some to make lecture interesting (my weakness is pens-espcially sparkly ones). School does suck, but you have to work in ways to enjoy it so 10 years won't seem so bad.
Also, think of the money. I couldn't help that.

why did you opt for a ten year plan? That would make you weary with school. If it was because of having children then I could understand the length of time. If the career that you have chosen takes this long to complete the required courses then I suggest that you focus on the career that you are working so hard for and try to remember that this is what you wanted. I wanted to be a nurse all my life but I had my children first and wanted to be a mom first and did not go through school till I was 50. I guess you just need to think about priorities and always save room in your life for those happy times. School alone can be a killer but mix it up with a happy life and school will not be such a drudgery for you. Good luck in your future and in your present.

I didn't start out on a 10 year plan, but I slacked off big time and really regret it...so now when I take a class here and there to finish...I'm grateful that I can do it...I'm lucky that I have a good job with out a degree, but I won't be able to advance my career without one...I really just think I wasn't ready for college after high school, now I'm older and wiser...

I was tired of being paid so little for doing the same thing that someone with a college degree was doing. They were getting the heftier salary and I was doing all the work. I quit to get married after my sophomore year at the age of 19. Went back when my kids were in high school and got my Bachelor's and Master's in Education (Reading). I graduated from college (with high honors) the same month my son graduated from H.S. and got my Master's a week after he was awarded his Bachelor's from university. You'll regret not finishing!

well.. I was in a 5 year program, so I figure that 5 out of the average 75 years of my life on this planet isn't so much - plus I met a lot of great people and had lots of fun in between the books.. so it really wasn't 5 years - it was more like, 1 full year of studying and 4 years of partying.
plus you can get a good job afterwards :)

this might be sick, but knowing I'm smarter than everyone else helps a lot. right now I'm in college and i have a temp job at ************ and every one there is a idiot , they cant even do basic skills , its so fun to toy w/ them. To be really smart is an advantage over everyone. have fun w/ it. just try asking them stuff they don't know and see them squirm , trying to second guess. real talent like ours shouldn't be questioned , if u got into college just know that 65% of the entire world is beneath you.
