what are the OSHA standars if it must be angled.I need to know the distance from the Base of the fixed ladder, to lets say in this case, a building. Please help

28 CFR 1910.27(e)(1)

"Preferred pitch." The preferred pitch of fixed ladders shall be considered to come in the range of 75 degrees and 90 degrees with the horizontal


Ladders can NEVER be pitched greater than 90 degrees.

There are other requirements in this standard regarding fixed ladders so I have attached the link to OSHA's website:

I didn't know you could fix a ladder. I thought you could only get dogs and cats fixed. I would think twice before you got the ladder fixed. Think how cute it would be to have all those little step ladders running around.

call the local building inspectors for the answer i had to put a railed outside metal ladder on a third floor for an escape and it had to be 15 degrees its differant from state to state

look on the side of the ladder..it will show a diagram showing u the angle.......sight the angle line to the ground and u will be ok....u can drive a wooden 2x4 stake behind each leg if ur worried about it and it wont go anywhere.....
