She is one of my favorite authors and I have read many of her books.
My favorite is probably "The Good Earth." I've read that one many times and it's probably the one she's best-known for.
My other favorite is "Imperial Woman," a story which is based on the life of the last Empress of China. There is a more recent book (not by Buck) based on the same woman's life called "Empress Orchid." It tells a completely different story and it's kind of interesting to compare the two.
I've also read "Pavilion of Women," "East Wind: West Wind" and "The Three Daughters of Madame Liang" They were all good.

I've read the Good Earth and I read three other books she wrote, but I have to admit it's been so long ago that I can't remember their names.

i'm quite surprised at analyzing the solutions to this question. lots of the answerers have certainly suggested Munshi Premchand!! it quite is a typical wisdom actuality that Nobel prizes at the instant are not given posthumously. Then somebody suggested, mom Teresa!! She has already have been given a nobel prize for peace, and that i don't think of her contribution to literature is sufficient to get her a nobel. some have suggested that noone has gained Nobel in literature in India after Tagore. properly...the asker knows that. The question isn't who has gained the Nobel. The question is, who can win the Nobel. Speculations is extra in question. i don't think of all people stands possibility to win Nobel from India. not because of the fact India lacks expertise...yet because of the fact the west does not desire Indians or Asians at super to win too many Nobel prizes. Nobel awards are laced with lots politics.

I think that was 7th grade. I'm 35 now, so I couldn't recall it on a good day, let alone a Monday. Sorry.
