Could be the dome light was on all night and you didnt know, or maybe the trunk was popped and the light in there stayed on. Other than that usually, the battery just doesnt die overnight. If the lights are still bright then it could be the starter, but if they arent bright it could also be the terminals are dirty and hen you turned the key to start, it lost a connection and wont work right now. Check the terminals to make sure there is no greenish white corrosion on them. If there is, clean it all off with a wire brush or terminal cleaner and put a light coat of grease on the terminals when you put them back on the battery. Hope his helped.

One of two things happened, and both are what's called a 'parasitic drain'. A parasitic drain is any electrical load applied to the battery when the engine is not running, and thusly, not recharging the batt.

option 1: you left the door cracked accidentally, leaving the dome light on. these are notorious battery murderers. best cure for this is to remove the bulb. no bulb, no circuit, no drain.

option 2: some switch in the car shorted out and killed the battery. this is almost impossible to trace, best start by turning all acc. off and starting the car, then seeing what's on that shouldnt be on. this includes things like trunklights, underhood lights, exterior lights, occasionally a bad ECU will do this, but that will be accompanied by a badly running, if running at all, engine and numerous idiot lights.

This has happened to me before. Today's batteries are junk. I do alot of highway driving and a battery lasts me no more than 3 years. The last time this happened, I went to a restaurant for lunch, got in to go back to work and car was dead as a doornail. It was a 4 year battery and the place I bought it gave me $10 reimbursment warranty towards another $85 battery. I said no and got a $39 battery and it lasted just as long. Just buy a cheap battery and screw the replacement warranties. They are a ripoff.

Battery life is about 3-4 years, so if your about there on the age of your battery don't be surprised. As for if you have a drain on that battery [if you didn't leave something on], you can turn EVERYTHING off-close all the doors-unplug or take the bulb out of the Hood light if you have one-disconnect the neg. battery cable and connect a test light between the neg. battery cable and the neg. battery post. If the test light lights-up with the battery fully charged, then you have a short/drain on the battery somewhere.

if the battery is old...this is not such a mystery. The optimum temperature for a battery is 60 degrees. With temps in the 100s it is just like if it was 15-20 degrees outside...the battery will fail in the heat just as often as in the cold

You check for corrosion the terminal connectors? That white powdery stuff can cause the battery not to accept a charge Disconnect the cables and clean them with a brush and paste made from baking soda, apply some grease to the to the cable and depending if they are screw in cables apply grease to both the battery surface and the cable surface

i might try leaping the motor vehicle back and driving it for no less than an hour. you do no longer decide for to anticipate that it is in basic terms a ineffective or undesirable battery. you need to have some extra intense problems with the automobiles electric device. One common rationalization for ineffective batteries is a defective alternator. the two the battery and alternator could be examined at maximum motor vehicle areas shops. the final situation you opt for for to do is throw money into areas you do no longer decide for.

Sometimes things work until they stop working. When that happens they don't work anymore.

Really though, you could have something other than lights drain the battery. What you ask/ Uh,uh, Uuhh. Youy didn't say the magic words: model make and year!!!
