NO NO NO NO NO.... there is oil which keeps the motor cool and lubricated. Would you run your car in it's side?

NO NO NO It will not work on it's side. They make special air conditioners for the type of window that you have( casement window). These units are taller than wide and fit in the window quite nicely.

An air conditioner will not work on it's side and the compressor will burn out. There is oil in the system that lubricates the compressor that will run out of the compressor and gravitate to another place causing the bearings and piston to burn out.

Gee. That's an excellent question. I'd get to the manufacturer's web site and send a query. There is nothing in the refrigeration system that would have a problem with being on the side except perhaps the flow of the refrigerant when it is a liquid. Turn one on it's side and see if it cools.

No, the coolant will not flow properly on its side as it cannot get out of the "comperssor", properly....

It would burn it up in no time at all...(Oh, it will work for a bit, but, once that compressor starts to go dry, because it cant recirculate it right, then its a burn out).

I would suggest that you get one that has the hoses and is portable, so that you can just put the exhaust hose out the window... It will save you the time and effort, and you wont be wasting your money...

I wish you well..

I would assume that air conditioners are similar to refrigeration equipment and can not be installed on their side.
