i'm so sorry about your 'pig', unfortunately it is not uncommon for them to get 'lumps'.........and quite frankly 6 yrs is about average for g. pigs...........i know its hard, my sis and i had them as pets when we were kids and we loved them too........brownie and blondie.....and then my hubby and i raised them for pet stores for a while......they make cute pets.......let me know how it goes, will you? i care..........sharon T. from ohio
you could still call your vet and tell him/her the problem and see what they say? ok? dont give up yet

Your Guinea Pig needs to see a vet. She is old for a guinea pig, so it may be cancer. Only a vet can tell for sure. This is NOT something you should try to treat at home, especially if you love your guinea pig as much as you say you do.

Tumors are not uncommon in older piggies. It's possible she has ovarian tumors, and they will cause other tumors in the body. A vet might be able to do something, but remember piggies seldom recover from anesthesia especially older ones.
Sorry to hear of your piggie, I've been through everything imaginable with them. Mine are all over 6 years also.

Something you can fix yourself!?!? You're nuts. You NEED to take her to a vet, it sounds like a mammary tumor. Part of being a responsible owner is being able to afford vet care. If you cannot take proper care of your guinea pig, please take her to the SPCA so she can find somebody who will.
If your guinea pig's "Life hangs in the balance" as you said, you should NOT trust Yahoo! Answers to save your pets life. That is assanine.

Sorry to say but your piggie isn't going to make it. It's old and it is very ill. The best thing you can do is get it put to sleep. I had to put a rabbit to sleep a few weeks ago and it was less expensive at the humane society. Or, you can hold it and love it during it's last days, but if it is suffering I would have it put down. It's hard. So sorry about piggie. I've had a few and lost them. I sure loved them also.

Are you a vet? No??? Then take your pet to the vet and quit being cheap.
Maybe you should let someone with a high school diploma operate on you when you are in a car accident. It would be cheaper.

no - I doubt it is something that you can fix yourself. At least take her to the vet to be looked at. It could be an abcess, cancer...whatever it is - it is bad enough that she is not eating. Take her in and get it looked at ASAP.
At least you could have her euthanized if it is something horrible - rather than her slowly starving to death.
