Is a Squier guitar a good name brand or should I look for a better one?

I've been playing guitar for a couple years. I started out with a squier but as I got better I started hating it because it sounds really crappy when you play with it plugged in and distorted. It's really comfortable to play, even now I play it every once in a while, just not when it's plugged in. If you're not worried that much about tone, go for it. But if you plan on being in a band, it just won't do. It's a good practice guitar, thats it.

Squier is no good. I've played 100's of guitars if money is a
issue try a Epiphone or a Samick guitar or a company on the
net called Dragonfire Guitars.
These companies make great guitars for the money, sound, playability, and looks.

Old Japanese Squier models that date back to the early eighties are very good.

If you are looking for a good quality electric guitar for a reasonable price try out some Japanese Fender guitars.

its a fender made in china and if the sound is good its a good guitar they use good woods there ,, look for the number of frets a squier jounior model strat is smaller so if its full size then play it or just practice on it till you want to move up to a full size company american made strat at about 700, dollars try looking at samash online theyve got packages of starter kits and also daisy guitars in colors and smaller fret boards for women and girls

I've never heard of it aka look around more. I've heard of a lot of guitar models and makers and that's a new one. I'm not judging them by simply not knowing them, I'm just saying they haven't been established in the market yet like other guitar brands.
