What was Angel's real name?

This question refers to the show Angel and I'm asking the birth name of the character. The answer is not Angelus or David.

Before he was turned into a vampire and took on the name Angelus, his name was Liam. No last name was ever given.

I don't think that ever came up in either series!!! He became Angelus first, then became Angel when his soul was restored. He had no name that we have been told pre-Darla...maybe that was deliberate, to show that he was a useless nobody!

His name was Liam, he was born in 17th century Ireland...
