In about 4.5 Billion years, when the sun runs out of hydrogen, it will gradually swell, until its surface will be in earth orbit, swallowing the planet. After that it will gradually shrink and end up as a dwarf star.
At that point the human race, or rather its descendants, will either have traveled to other solar systems to continue its existence there, or will have perished here, with all the silly quibbling and disagreements having been delegated to the niche of unimportance it always belonged in...
Actually I think, that just as the fish left the water of the seas all these hundreds of Millions of years ago, so life is now straining in our shape (presently) to leave this world. It is a drive which evolved into us with time and will, if successful, ensure the survival of life as evolved on this planet.

I hope that by that time we will have evolved enough to have moved to a younger planet.
Who knows we might have all died out by then.
If you want a religious angle, I would hope that God would pop in and say follow me.
I did like one of the other answers - the one about all turning to a liquid, etc.
