I good man yes good president no. By the end of his term our economy was in the toilet, inflation was out of control, the prime rate was in double didgets, the Islamic terrorists were laughing at us and unemployment was at a rate not seen since the great depression of the 1930's. That is what prompted President Reagan to say in his fist inaugural address "In this present crisis government is not the answer to the problem, government IS the problem."

Jimmy Carter was a total idiot. He implemented a windfall profits tax on the oil companies and guess what they did. They moved out of the United States and/or stopped producing gas. Hence, we had 18% inflation, almost 15% unemployment, and we could not even rescue our own people from a hotel in Iran. He could not realize that hostile actions sufficient enough to declare war were being perpetrated upon us throughout the world. He was a wimp. As for the "peace" he established, it was between 2 countries who were simply tired of killing each other. And if you read careful through history, it was the Egyptian president, who was eventually assassinated, that was the driving force in establishing the peace. Carter simply got the Israeli president to the table for talking. If you were not alive during that time, you cannot imagine how difficult that time was. Carter was the worst president in my lifetime and probably ever. And most of Hussein Obama's platform re-initiate those same policies. And you wonder why I cannot stand the man. I just read your second additional post, what are you Carter's secret lover or something? The only thing the guy did that was the least bit successful was Habitat for Humanity. And even that was rocked with corruption. Get a clue man. You are embarassing yourself.

He was a lousy president... but a GREAT humanitarian.

The reason Carter was a lousy president is because he was too honest to play the dirty game of politics. Everyone walked all over him from his cabinet, both houses of Congress, as well as foreign leaders.

Also, the oil crisis and the Hostage situation in Iran didn't help him one bit. He was doomed to lose.

As a humanitarian, nobody deserved the Nobel Peace Prize more than him. Way to go, Mr. Carter!!

How many of you posting here tonight WERE ACTUALLY ALIVE during his presidential years. I would bet the farm that I'm the only one, not only who was alive, but already an adult by that time. Just out of curiosity.

Jimmy Carter was a joke. If he'd grown testes like he grew peanuts, Iran wouldn't be a problem today. We should have addressed that issue when it became apparent in 1979, but we didn't and look where it's lead to. Iran is behind every problem the West faces right now, & Iranian president Nutjob is doing all he can to indoctrinate anti-American sentiment into all aspects of Iranian life.

Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter would have been great presidents during any other time. It was energy crisis that messed them up, in my opinion. Jimmy Carter had a great respect for the environment and conservation, and we may be hearing another speech like the one he gave in 1979, known as the "Crisis of Confidence" speech, very soon.

He was a wonderful president.

If you notice, all those that say he was terrible never have an answer as to why they believe that. They are just repeating propaganda rhetoric.

Carter was setup by Reagan cronies with the Iran Contra deal in order to paint him as weak and ineffective. That put a scar on Ameican history and Reagan's deal with giving the Iran Contra arms behind the presidents back just so Reagan could win the election should have put Reagan in prison for treason.

Without a doubt, Jimmy Carter will go down in history as this nations worst prez. History speaks for itself. Double didget unemploymen, double didget interest rates, double didget inflation. Lines around the block for five dollars worth of gas. So weak he couldn't mount a rescue of our people in the Iranian embassy. They read him like a book. They knew he was weak and they proved it for 444 days. The only energy crisis that existed was man made. Opec holding a gun to our heads. Again Mr. Weak Link did nothing.

When you consider what the nation had just gone through with Nixon and Ford, and his quiet stubbornness, and true Christian demon and ethics, YES, Jimmy Carter was a damn good president. We needed him when he was in office, and we needed Regan when he was in office. Bush, on the other hand, I just don't think so.

No. Look at Carter's legacy and name two positive things. Energy crisis? Hostages in Iran?
