WNBA salaries are much less than NBA salaries. The average is somewhere around $50,000. A lot of the players also play oversees to earn more.
The reason the WNBA doesn't get the recognition is that women's sports generally don't get the same level of interest or coverage as men's sports. Also, there's the perception that the women's games just isn't as good as the men's game, people complain about there being very few dunks and the game isn't as flashy. But the skill level has greatly improved over what it was when the league began, there are more recognizable stars in the league, and it's quickly becoming as entertaining as the NBA, but it still has to fight against the perception that women just shouldn't be playing sports that are normally dominated by men, but that should become less of a barrier as the league continues to expand, get more coverage and bring in more fans.

A simple and crappy answer is: "NBA: Dunks, WNBA: No Dunks"
A long answer is the majority of people who watch sports are male. Men like watching men play sports more than women. The WNBA has a smaller fanbase and is newer so they get less recognition. The NBA didn't have a lot of fans when it started out because it was competing with the NFL and MLB. Give it time.

The WNBA does not have as long a history as the NBA. Plus women's sports are still growing in popularity. I seriously doubt, too, that WNBA players are paid as much. This is because of less corporate sponsorship and a not-as-lucrative television contract.

no. they dont get paid nearly as much as the NBA players. one reason is because of the action. in the nba, the game is fast paced and people get crammed on! in the WNBA, no one can dunk except ofcourse Lisa.

Because it isn't anywhere near as entertaining. So no of course they don't get paid as much.. Why would they? They don't draw a 100th the crowd that the NBA does.

they need to start wearing sum skimpy short or sumthing like the NBA in the 80s...they need tp use the sex appeal card if they want to survive for another ten years...they need a sex symbol...men would watch it....and if the talent improves over the years where dunks become more common i see it becming bigger and one of the mjor sports....but the sex appeal is a must and dunk its the only way the league will survive....SEX + DUNKS = $$$ its a simple equation.

Hey me being a girl i think they should get more reconition. i think they dont get as much credit cause guys watch basketball. not that girls dont watch basketball games too cause i do. plus for me it is funner to watch the guys play. but i guess that is cause i am a girl.
