When gelding a horse. Vet is only person who should do this. It is great to know the procedure to know what will happen to your own horse. Just don't try to do it to your own horse. Even if "parents" or "friends" say they will. Say no and get a vet out asap. I knew a guy once who was cocky enough to try it and he is lucky the horse lived after the infection.

When I gelded my 6 year old at 10 months of age, it was not that hard as I thought. Quite simple and fast.

The vet gave him his anaesthetic shot. It took about 2 mins before it really set in. We wanted to lay him down as calmly as we can. We wanted him on his left side and for a big horse for his age, we needed extra people to quietly do so. Placed a clothe over his eyes and kept monitor of his breathing etc.

We tied a rope to his hind right foot and lifted it up gently. For lack of medical terms, cleaned the location, clasp the testicle, opened and removed. repeated for the other.

It was when he was to wake up was the most part to becareful about. He was very vocal and stumple around as a drunk. But over all he did great job recovering.

over a course of 10 days I would walk him for 20 mins slowly to help it drain and heal.

I rather not go in full medical terms since I would be writting a huge novel of step by step. I recommend picking up an Equine book or researching it over the web. Use google which gives a better filter than yahoo.

you call the vet, inform him that you want your horse gelded, and he will come out and do the procedure. This is not something that you should do on your own as it is a medical procedure. as far as the actual gelding procedure, I dont know.

Call your vet and get him to do it, it's not something that anyone who isn't qualified can do. There are certain times of the year that are better for it to be done, as you won't want flies around, there will be an open wound that needs to drain, flies incease the risk of infection.

Call the vet and ask him, but I'd recommend that if you are squeamish in anyway that you are not around when it is done, Ive assisted in many and still get a little queasy.

First, you catch that horse...

Then you call a veterinarian. Don't try the operation yourself.

call a vet, they either tie a rubber band around the scrotum until it falls off due to lack of circulation of they sedate him and cut them off and sew up the incision.
