Like any other player receiving a red card the goal keeper has to leave the field. If there are substitutions available the replacement keeper will come in for another player, like what happened during this year's UEFA Champions League final between Arsenal and Barcelona.
If the team used all the substitutions a regular player will put the gloves on and take the keepers' post.

are you talking about Lehmann's game. The number #1 goalie is out, #2 goalie fills in. but of course, #2 goalie usually suck, so the team loses, just like Arsenal's game.
But if the #2 goalie is Oliver Kahn, then, there's no problem of losing for the team. B/c no strikers, except Ronaldo would want to go up against Olli, esp. he'll intimate you so much that you wouldn't want to go near the goal (last time, after Olli caught the ball a striker was trying to score, Olli went up to the guy and licked his face). But, Olli's now retired. It's Lehmann's turn to intimate others.

When the goalie gets the red card, he have to leave the field and the team have to sacrifice one player to subsitute with another goalie. Then the goalie who got the red card will be suspended.

Just an extension on other answers.
The available substituions is normally 3 field players and a substitution for the 'keeper.
That means that the ejected 'keeper can alwaysl be replaced by the number 2 'keeper. It also means that one of the field players needs to be substituted out. The number 2 keepr replaces the field player.

The goalkeeper will be replaced by the second-choice goalkeeper, that's all. Like what happened with Jens Lehmann when he was red-carded in the Arsenal vs Barcelona match. I think Lehmann also holds the record for getting the most red cards of any goalkeeper, he has received five red cards.
