this has happened to me a couple times.

people post ABSURDLY long answers, im assuming, in the hope that other people will not look at other peoples answers. ...in an effort to... avoid other people from doing damage to this persons opinion.

has anyone else noticed this or am i crazy?

Yeah I have noticed.

It is either an attempt to prevent answers from being read or an attempt to win a vote...a lot of ppl vote best answer to the longest one without reading it because they think that person put in a lot of effort.

They don't realize that those ppl are just pasting in the answer.

well, you know, you may be crazy, but how am i to tell... you know, its just me and my little opinion here, an i'm trying to protect it by writing this long, boring answer to that question you asked about you being crazy about long answers, and the answer is, again, how can i tell, but i guess that's really not an opinion, cause its neutral, and neutrality cannot really be copied or disputed unless its by a really dumb person who will disagree with the undecided, so, yah, i didn't really have to make my answer that long did i? i'm safe, arent i, from all those evil copiers who would copy me?! so, for an abbreviated answer, see below (and, dammit, nobody copy me!!!)

The user that stuck the long post into your last question answers all his questions like that. Report it as abuse, especially if it has nothing to do with the question.

That *just* happened for another question I was just answering.

Seriously! What a total waste of *everyone's* time. People need to grow up. And other people need to report them.

Fight the good fight, brother!

If they are trying to get people to only look at their answers, I don't think it's working. I don't usually read answers that sound like a lot of babble or rhetoric.

You're not crazy. If it was a long good answer I wouldn't complain, but when someone is just ranting about an irrelevent topic they're just wasting bytes.

there are a bunch of Bush Derangement Syndrome sufferers on here that are angry because their candidate lost and now they have to live with it because they, like him ,don't want to change their minds because they think it will make them look like supporters of the US.

/ There. I fixed that for you Neddie

I just asked the same question. Heroic Liberal thinks he sounds smart. I think he just cut and pastes from a word doc or something.

can you say ctrl+c, ctrl+v.....

these people look for a piece of writing *vaguely* related, or more often unrelated, to the question, and copy-paste it in

i've seen it happen a few times. i find it pretty annoying too
