Okay a miscarriage is caused because something went wrong with the development of the baby. It wasn't anything she did and if you want to be a supportive and loving sister you will never suggest to her that it was something she did. She already has gone through that Hell! She is worrying about this baby being okay. She is going to worry all the way up to the time she gets to hear the little one's heart beat for the first time at about 20 weeks. Be there for her and be supportive. Love her and tell her to wait until she hears the baby's heart and then she needs to relax and wait for the moment she gets to hold that baby in her arms. As for what she shouldn't be eating - she should avoid shell fish, fish in general and soft cheeses (like brie).

What she ate would not have caused her to have a miscarriage. However, it is nice that she has such a great sis! She should avoid fish that is high in mercury such as shark, swordfish, king mackerel and tile fish. Tuna is safe but in moderation. She should only eat canned tuna. Unpasteurized cheeses are a no-no as well. I hope this is helpful, I am sure there are other things that she should be cautious about ...but these are the top foods she should avoid. Congratulations Auntie!

People don't miscarry because of the foods they eat. People miscarry because their bodies won't carry the child to full term.
She should just remember to eat healthy foods, and nothing too fattening. If she's having morning sickness, keep the foods light, like crackers, pretzels, etc. And she doesn't have to eat for two..that's an old wives tale. She can eat anything that will keep her diet balanced, plus take her prenatal vitamins that the doctor prescribes. And if she takes it easy on the sodas, stays completely away from alcohol and drinks a lot of water, juice or milk, that's good too.

The only person that can tell your sister what to eat and what not to eat is her doctor. She should be seeing a doctor regularly. The doctor will advise her what's good for her and what's not. It's just a myth when they tell you, you can't eat a certain food when you're pregnant. Tell your sis "Congrats!"

Her doctor could tell her this. Caffeine is not good for the baby, neither is alcohol. She should eat fresh fruit and veggies, meat, breads and cereals. It is very important to go to the doctor for regular visits!
