a formal dance in 8th grade? don't get something big and poofy. i'd say dressy-casual. as in a pretty skirt and a nice top. or a cute dress. just no big poof until prom. think: semiformal.

If your friend is going to a truely formal dance it should be very dressy not casual but being that she is in the 8th grade it shouldn't be very revealing. I don't know what size she wears but what always tends to work and you should be able to find it pretty simply is a little black dress. Coco Chanel sworn by them.
Strappy sandals and a crotched shawl. I hope your mom doesn't find it too grown up.

Hmmm, a FORMAL dance? Ya think that would imply a "formal" dress?
Yeah - go for a prom-type dress or at least something fancier than a normal dress for school. If you aren't sure - ask a female teacher.

if it is formal she should dress formal. I am not saying she has to wear a prom dress. Depending on her shape she should wear a form fitting evening gown or a T-length dress. She also needs to have great accessories shoes, earrings, etc, these things will complete her outfit.

Formal indicates that she should wear something fancy, like a prom dress. If it was a casual dance (calling for a casual dress), then it wouldn't be labeled "formal," would it? ^_^

Your friend should wear something that is flattering but makes her look great. She should wear a great dress that's not really a prom dress but it's not something you would wear to a club either. She should wear something she could dance in. what really matters is that she's comfortable and she feels great.when u go shopping remember my 4 C's, if it's comfortable,cute, classy, and confident. please don't copy my C's but use it. get something that's her shape.try a dress or something that's her favorite color. throw on a great necklace and a shawl. if u r not comfy in a dress wear a great pants and shirt.

she should wear a formal dress...they r usually considered long, but dont have to be too long, and most people wear dark color for formal dresses.
