get something with about 1GB of RAM, a large HDD like 160GB and most importantly, a good graphics card.
the graphics card is most important, you could have tonnes of RAM but if you have a poor GC then top games won't run well. It all depends how much you want to spend really, and you're best working out ur budget and speaking to an expert

Surf ebay. You can find something even if you buy elsewhere.
There are good deals if you find a good seller.
I got my Dell optiplex GX240 there and bumped the ram to 1024.
My os came with phone support. It is now loaded.

check out www.alienware.com find something in your price range.. These are a bunch of gammers that got together and decided to make pc's that are up to par for gamming...

for games! don't waste ur money and buy ps2 or xbox cuz u will need new computer hardware for every new game
