Hi- I've got a Roadrunner cable modem & a lynksys G somthing router for my other computer- Called cable company and they said if I wanted another modem its be another 45/month. Lynksys is constantly dropping signal, so can I just connect another cable modem (and what type do I use) to it, or is there another type of broadband router that has a better result (speed was fine, it just kept dropping the signal)?

You don't need to spend the 45/month. The problem is with your linksys router, not your internet connection. Either you've just got too much interference, the wireless NIC card is bad, or the signal is just too weak. You have four choices:
1. Get a range extender/wireless access point to boost the range of your wireless G router.
2. Buy an srx router (much more powerful signal. greater range and reliability.
3. Throw a CAT5e cable from the router to your wireless computer. Screw the wireless and just go hardwired.
4. Replace the NIC card.

A) It does not be recognized as a modem. i don't be responsive to what variety of Router/Modem u've have been given yet once you pass into its setup (i think of 192.168.a million.a million is the main ordinary, yet this relies upon on ur make) there ought to be a area for cyber web settings. B) to make it artwork with ur modern-day association might propose messing around with cyber web Connection Sharing, i think there's a setup wizard for this in homestead windows which might prefer to be run on the two machines, i'm uncertain if this might exchange any of your firewall settings which via default would be hiding ur computers from one yet another. wish This facilitates --------------------------------------... basically study Raistlins placed up, good placed up. i ought to've neglected the bit appropriate to the USB connection.......are you useful which you have a Router/Modem and not a Router and seperate modem ? Admittedly my journey with those issues interior of reason constrained yet i've got not found a router with a USB connection.

Might want to look at your wireless card on the PC that was losing its signal on. You don't need another modem, just check your wireless card, because your router might be fine with the signal, it's just your PC losing the signal. I had the same prop with my laptop, had an old crappy card, bought a new one, and signal is great.
