Okay when I start the car sometimes it decides to blow cold air sometimes not. And sometimes while driving down the road the cold air just up and quits working.(but usually after driving for 15 min I can get cold air again)

Bravo Link. Best lookin answer here. Except for the first one. What vehicle are we talking about here. If it cools good sometimes and not others, it probably has a full charge of freon/refrigerent (interchangable terms on an automobile)
You could have a faulty pressure cycling switch, compressor clutch relay or bad connection.
But Not knowing what vehicle this is a guess that is good as for as you can throw it.

When the airconditing unit gets low on freon it will shut it down to prevent the unit from burning up, take it to a mechanic, what they will do is add more freon to it and a special dye, they will tell you to drive it around for about a week with the ac on, when you come back in they will check it for leaks using a black light that will show where the leak might becoming from, if there are no leaks detected then your compressor is going out and you will have to replace it, if you have r-12 then you are sol because they don't sell it anymore and by the way R-12 / R-134 / and R-134A is freon, the only difference between the r12 and the rest is the new stuff is more environmentally friendly. good luck

First of all, cars don't use Freon for refrigerant. Thay use either r-12, R-134, or R-134A Refrigerant. If it takes acceleration to boost the air conditioning, then have the system checked for a recharge. That's likely the problem.

Sounds like the compressor. Take it to a mechanic. It may need Freon also.

may be an issue with the free-on in your air conditioning unit. Your mechanic should know... in the meantime STAY cool. if you are in the same part of the country that I am in...it is H-O-T

The compressor clutch has to be engaged before compressor can turn. Could be bad connection at compressor. Could be switch.
