Short answer: you can see an embryo inside an egg by holding a strong flashlight behind the egg.
But you were pretty stupid to take the eggs from the nest. You say they were still warm, that means the mother duck wasn't to far away, a duck won't leave her nest for more than 10 or 15 minutes at a time when she's brooding eggs. This proves how little you know about raising poultry. You have no idea if your heating pad set up is going to be too hot or too cold for the eggs and you'll have no clue how to take care of a little duck, much less a whole brood of them. You don't know how to help them hatch, you don't know what to feed them, how often to feed them. Heck, yo don't know ANYTHING.
If the poor things survive long enough to hatch they'll just die a few days later from improper care.
A duckling NEEDS it's mother to survive.
How long ago did you take the eggs? if it was only a few hours ago there's a chance the mother duck will remember them and the little ducks will be OK. If it's been more than a day, take the eggs to someone who knows how to raise poultry. If you live in a rural area there's probably a feed store somewhere around, the people who work there usually know how to take care of animals and how to find good homes for them. If not, try calling an animal rescue place. They'll take care of the eggs.
I hope you've enjoyed being an idiot but more than that I hope you've learned that if you want a free pet, incubating eggs are NOT the best way to go about getting one.

It was a bad idea to take the eggs from the nest if they are still warm, it is against the law in some places but now that you have them you will need to keep them warm and moist. If you don't have an incubator try and make one. for now put it in a really warm plce but it need to be humid to. what i did when i found an egg is i put it by my heater with a wet rag. the egg needs to be at a temp. of 99.5'F and the humidity around 58%. once you do this you need to cradle the egg by puting a flash light under to see if it is fertile or alive. if you see vains or a blob and some red it is a bab duck but if you don't the egg is unfertile.

First of all, you should never take eggs from the wild, as mothers often leave their nest for brief periods (or perhaps was scared off and planned to return) and since the eggs were warm it was likely she hadn't been gone long. But now that you have them, there's nothing you can do to return them.
Duck eggs take about 28 days to hatch. The only way you can tell how far along they are is to hold a flashlight underneath them in a dark room. Using this light you can see if there is a duckling inside, and how large it is. Of course, it is hard for a beginner to see this, but if the duckling inside is large all you will see is a dark egg and not be able to make out any features.
I would keep them warm (but not too warm) and make sure to turn them so they get even heat on all sides. If in 3 weeks you do not see anything inside using the flashlight, they are not fertilized or have died. If they become dark, you will have ducklings soon.
What are you going to do when the ducks hatch? I hope you have plans for the babies! Good luck!

Why did you take them? you were at a park! i'm sure the mother was nearby!! Just imagine how the mother felt when she got back and all her babies were gone. That's so sad. If it's not too late try to take them back to the nest, the mom might still take them back.

They're probably not gonna hatch without the mommy duck sitting on them.
