i am getting 5 snakes, for sure, but my dad is afraid of some things that i am
not afraid of.
1)handling-
My dad is afraid i am afraid to handle a garter, corn, or ball python, but i am not, i love snakes, the only thing about them that scares me, is their price.
2)feeding-
my dad is afraid i wont be able to feed my snake, i love animals, but i also love nature, wich means that i understand, that sometimes, an animal must sacrifice itself to help another.
3)escape-
I know that snakes are escape artists, but i am not afraid of them escaping, we have rubber sealed doors, windows, and seems(links between walls/floors/ and corners) in my pet room, and ALL of my animal containers tops are chained and hooked down onto the floor, so all i have to do is do that for my snakes, and even if they do get out of their container, they cant get out of the room, or into any of the other pets containers.

so how do i convince my dad of this, he has no say in this, i worked hard for my money!!!

tell him exactly what you just said. and you're definatley getting the snakes so after you get them show your dad how to handle them and that you will feed them and explain if they escape their cage they can't escape the room. Good Luck!

Yes, I know you say that it's your money you can do what you want with it, all that jazz, but think about it. Are you going to be able to afford to feed 5 snakes, in addition to your other animals? I have a 3.5 foot milk snake, he gets 3 fuzzies every two weeks, that's $3 a week to feed him, and that's for one snake. That'd be at least $15 a week to feed 5 snakes, and I'm assuming that fuzzies are this cheap in your area, and that your getting smaller snakes and not snakes that will eat rats or something. Also, how much will cages and accessories cost for these 5 snakes? It cost about $150 to get my milk snake set up, and all he has is a 20 gal long tank, a clip screen cover tied shut, a water bowl, and a hidey place, and, obviously, bedding. The bedding costs about $20 a bag, and it fills up the 20 gal aquarium 3 times, I clean it every 3 months. That's another about $120 a year for your 5 snakes, which really isn't too bad, but again, I'm assuming that your biggest tank is 20 gal, and really, there is no option for smaller, I don't know of any snake that can live it's entire life in a 10 gal and have enough space.

Fantastic inspiration! Why no longer have the file capable handy him while you say that what you would rather like as a birthday gift is a snake? Include what enjoy made you so concerned with snakes that you just desired to have certainly one of your possess. Be specifically exact approximately how you want to feed it, and preserve a few cash stored if the snake will get in poor health and demands to peer a veterinarian, and blank the snake's cage and, VERY IMPORTANTLY, how you'll preserve your snake from getting unfastened. It could no longer harm to invite your trainer or your mother to assess your paper for errors earlier than doing a last draft. The more difficult you check out, the extra inspired he's going to be together with your sincerity (he loves you and can consider well that you have labored rough to provoke him). Remember, your dad labored lengthy rough years to are living within the residence he's delivering his loved ones, and do not be mad if website hosting a snake is past his tolerance stage. You have decades forward of you of being your possess boss, and also you might regularly check out once more subsequent 12 months.

You have experience, then let your dad know this... If you do, then why would he think you would be afraid to hold them? And also, I'm sorry but he DOES have a say in this. It's his house, and he decided what is allowed in it... It took me 19 years of bugging to get a snake into my house... I'm just about to move out and I'm STILL not allowed to get anything else because my mother doesn't want anymore animals in her house (but I'm taking my snake, 2 turtles, 3 lizards and frog with me and will probably get more once I move out)... Even if you are "ready" I'd start with one just because it's really the only responsible way to go, and also because your dad probably thinks that as well. Going from zero to five snakes is a big switch and really a heck of a lot to ask. Get him to agree to 1 first, show that you DO know what you're doing, and then I'm sure he will be more willing to let you get more. Also, as far as escapes go, get a "critter cage" (available at most pet stores). They have sliding and latching lids and are 100% snake proof.

"he has no say because he said i can do ABSOLUTELY any thing i want with it"
-Soo... if you wanted to buy crack with it he'd have no say because you can "do ABSOLUTELY anything" with it?

Why start out with 5 snakes? I would get only one and make sure it is tame and easy to handle. Then you can show your dad that snakes are not evil or dangerous and that you have no problem feeding it (please do not feed live food) and taking care of it.

And also, why does your dad have no say in this? He's your father, you should respect his decisions and his concerns about you being a responsible pet owner. Unless of course, you're like 35 and still living at home...lol

start out with one, then let him see how responsible you are. and who knows, maybe you can just breed it! I am currently incubating 11 corn snake eggs, and I'm very excited!
