At the expense of our communities?

If the question were altered a bit...like this...
Are we spending money we don't have, mortgaging ourselves and our kids futures for things like being the international policeman, (and other wasteful things)?
My answer would be...certainly.
So, what can we do about it?
Make sure that the politicians know that we want them to control deficits like we do with our own households.
That includes stopping the wasteful endeavors that get us nowhere and get up deeper in debt.
Six years ago the national debt stood at 5.4 trillion dollars, and the Clinton administration was creating surpluses.
Today it's at 8.3 (something), and no controlling it anymore.
Does this matter when home prices keep skyrocketing and everyone is living off of equity financing?
Guess not...let the band play on...until somebody coughs.
Did I hear somebody cough?

We(americans) aren't an international police force. We're only fighting "terrorism". The Interpol is the world's police force. The CIA, and the FBI are the best tools to combat the bad guys(terrorists).

Is there one place where you are being 'international police' where there is not an American self-interest? If so please tell me. If not then it is just a case of whether it is worth the price you pay.
Every superpower has done this through history, and future superpowers will do the same.

Nope, it's not our money. It's our great grandkids money. Communities? Not in the equation of caring and compassion.

if we don't do it who will? the answer to that is no one, then we have issues such as what created WWII
