Probably nothing will happen if you feed very small amounts right after cutting, but it's not recommended to feed larger amounts. There is a potential there for colic, choke, and possibly laminitis.

Fresh cut grass is considered a treat for my horse, she gets real excited when she hears the lawnmower and waits for the clippings, once she gets them she eats what she wants and before the day is out I will remove what hasn't been eaten, if it sits too long it will ferment. She is 30 yrs old and no colic... I have not had any problems with fresh cut grass for her.. just remember to clean it up before the day is out. Special Note*** I do not recommend this on a daily basis. Only a Treat....

Lawn clippings are generally not the best source of nutrition because the turf grasses used for lawns are not nutritionally balanced for horses. If fed as a treat in small quantities it would be okay, but it should not be used as a major part of the diet. Also, some sources of lawn grasses contain endophytes that may be toxic to horses, so it is a very good idea to know what types of turf grasses were seeded before feeding them. However, Lucerne (alfalfa), pasture grasses, and chaff are perfectly adequate forage sources for horses and are okay to be cut and fed. Just be cautious not to let the clippings sit in a pile long enough for them to mold. Feed them right away or spread them out so they will dry instead of collecting moisture and molding.

you shouldn't feed a horse fresh cut grass by a lawnmower, it starts to ferment as soon as you have cut it and will produce gasses in your horses stomach. If your horse eats it, it could in all likelyhood get colic, and that's somewhere that you really don't want to go, it can be costly to treat, but more importantly than that it is AGONY for your horse and could lead to death.
I'm serious that you shouldn't feed any horse grass cuttings.

Nothing the horse will be fine. Just don't feed him fresh cut grass everyday or it had gas from the mower leak onto it.

i don't see how it can hurt the, as long as it's not all moldy or anything. horses eat grass all the time. mowed grass has just been cut, so i think it would be fine

It can colic which is a really bad stomach ache which sometimes makes the horse roll and then it will get it's intestines messed up.
