I love them personally but everytime I ask my friends to stay in and play they want to go to a club instead

You need to find yourself a game group! There are a lot of groups out there that meet regularly JUST to play boardgames. I'm in one. We're generally geekier than the club-types so we might not get as much attention, but we're out there. You can use the boardgamegeek "find gamers" search to check for gamers near you

I love board games too, but my friends call them a "fight in a box". (We never agree on the rules, and no one actually wants to take the time to read them). My friends are really competitive and don't like to let others away with anything!
One game that everyone seems to like, though, is Cranium. It has four sets of cards that correspond to four different types of questions. One is like Trivial Pursuit, another is like Pictionary (with drawing and even clay sculpting), another is like charades (but includes cameos and humming songs and having others guess it), and the fourth is is more word-based, like spelling or figuring out puzzles. You divide into 2 teams and people on each team can answer the questions or categories they are best at.
Here is a suggestion: Say there are four of you (you and three friends). Maybe you could agree to each decide what you do one weekend a month. Going out and dancing is really fun, but a girls' night in can be awesome, too.

I love board games. None of my friends like to play them. Everytime I ask them they say no. I hate that!

Board games rule! Monopoly is one of my favorites, but my hubby is the grandmaster of that I can't seem to beat him. Scrabble rules too! Risk is okay, but I can't seem to win at it. I used to play Sorry! with my sisters, but we would all whine when we'd have to return to the home triangle lol. Now, UNO, even though it doesn't have a board is cool! Our family loves board games. We play them every other night and we have all of them. I am trying to teach my son TV does not always have to be on and it is nice to spend time together in this busy world. He likes them so much he even likes to make up his own games.

To be quite honest, not many people like them anymore. They claim they aren't entertaining enough.

I do.
I play board games every thursday evening with some friends. We played many german games, like Durch Die Wuste, or Fluppen Ficshe Flikadellen. I like strategy games like Abalone, Dvonn, or Java.

I TOTALLY agree with you. When I finally convince some people to play games, we all have SO MUCH FUN, and then the next weekend it's like they all forgot about how great it was. I play boggle with my husband, stratego, trivial pursuit, life, scene it, etc etc etc.
